About the Opportunity

Fulham Correctional Centre is seeking applicants to assist in managing and coordinating the provision of primary healthcare services within a correctional environment. The successful candidate will provide strong clinical leadership, ensuring high-quality healthcare is delivered to prisoners while also assisting in the coordination of resources and compliance with health service accreditation standards.

The role operates Monday to Friday from 0800 – 1600 and reports to the Health Services Manager. There will be an on-call requirement of one weekend in three. 

This role offers a unique opportunity to provide vital healthcare services in a correctional setting, directly supporting individuals on their rehabilitation journey. The successful applicant will work closely with prisoners applying their clinical expertise in a dynamic and secure environment while adhering to the Centre’s security policies and procedures.

GEO will require applicants to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearances from Victoria Police and Corrections Victoria (at GEO’s expense). A pre-employment medical assessment will also be required before commencing employment.

 

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Registered Nurse qualification with registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • A minimum of three years of postgraduate clinical experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership in a multidisciplinary environment, including the ability to provide supervision and guidance to nursing staff.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to coordinate patient care and health services effectively.
  • Experience in healthcare management or service coordination including reporting on Key Performance Measures (KPMs).
  • High-level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders including senior management, correctional staff and external healthcare providers.
  • The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively while maintaining strict professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and electronic medical records.

 

Highly Regarded:

  • Experience in primary healthcare or correctional health settings.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in health or health service management.
  • Experience in accreditation processes and compliance with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness and the ability to foster a culturally safe workplace.
