About Fulham Correctional Centre

Fulham Correctional Centre is in Sale, VIC, 200km east of Melbourne.

Fulham has been continually managed by GEO on behalf of Corrections Victoria since opening in 1997. It is Victoria's largest regional Correctional Centre.

Fulham’s primary role is to house up to 947 adult male prisoners safely and securely and progress their sentence plans by delivering a comprehensive range of education, vocational training, reintegration, and offending behaviour programs. Together, these lower a prisoner’s risk of reoffending and increase the likelihood of successful community reintegration.

A key area of Fulham's operations is the Nalu Challenge Community. Located next to the main prison site, Nalu's 68 prisoners benefit from an intensive program of community reparation, leadership/teamwork challenges and preparation for reintegration into the community.

With casual, full time and part time opportunities, the services at Fulham Correctional Centre can be broken down into the following departments:

Custodial Services
The main position within the Operations Department is that of a Correctional Officer. The recruitment process to be selected as a Trainee Correctional Officer includes psychometric testing, an interview, pre-employment medical and reference checks. If successful, you undertake an intensive 8-week, full time training course before graduating as a Correctional Officer. Intakes of Trainee Correctional Officers are completed as required, usually 1-2 times per year.

Administration
Positions within the Finance & Administration Department can include Accountant, Administrative Support Officers, Stores Officer, and Procurement Officer. Administrative Support Officers undertake a wide range of duties across several departments, including Prisoner Canteen, Accounts Payable, Prisoner Monies, Finance, Mail Room, Records, Operations, Reception, Visits, Human Resources and Rosters.

Health Services
The Health Services Department delivers quality, safe and evidence-based health services to the prisoners. Positions can include Registered Nurse, Enrolled Nurse, Psychiatric Nurse, Health Promotions Nurse, Opioid Substitution Therapy Nurse, Dental Nurse, General Practitioner, and a range of Administrative Support positions.

Food Services
A Catering Officer is required to hold a minimum of Certificate III in Cookery/Bakery and is responsible for supervising prisoner employees in the provision and deployment of high-quality food services to the prisoners and staff at the Centre. Catering officers work Monday - Sunday with no nightshift or split shifts required.

Rehabilitation and Reintegration
The R&R Department provide a range of programs that support prisoners to reduce their risk of re-offending and increase positive community reintegration outcomes. Clinical positions within this department include Psychologist (Provisional & Registered), Social Worker, Counsellor, and Occupational Therapist in addition to an Aboriginal Liaison Officer and a range of Administrative Support positions.

Vocational Services
The primary positions within the Vocational Services Department are Maintenance Officers and Trades Officers. Ideally, you will hold a trade qualification, along with industry experience, and are responsible for providing small repairs and maintenance to all departments within the Centre, in addition educating and providing supervision of small groups of prisoners who conduct maintenance duties around the prison.
